Bracciano is a town know for its lake of
volcanic origin and its medieval castle Castello
Orsini-Odescalchi.
The town rises on a hill inhabited since
Etruscan ages, as testified by the necropolis; it became then of
great importance during the Renaissance period when it was a
fief of the Orsini.
The town center preserves its medieval
character with narrow streets and the very interesting shops and
laboratories from XV and XVI century.
The town is a popular tourist destination
being situated on the volcanic Lake Bracciano. The main economic
activities in the area are tourism, services and agriculture.
The gastronomic specialities of this area are
fish and dishes based on vegetables. Eels and persh fillet,
broccoli, mushrooms, game and white wine, all prepared in the
numerous restaurants around to the lake.
