January:

Sagra delle Frittelle - Pancake festival. Where: Tuscania

 

Saint Antonio the Abbot, with horses richly decorated, dancing and plenty of food such as local products. Where: Sutri

February:

Hooded Lollard's Feast, a very strong and mysterious event with some representation of the Purgatory scenes. The location overlooks the beautiful lake Bolsena on lush green hills covered in olives and grapes. Where: Gradoli

Fregnaccia festival, with parade of floats and distribution of cakes made of pork fat.

Where: Acquapendente

Carnival of Ronciglione, a famous local festival with folk-bands, Palio, parades and rides, and everyone wearing carnival costumes with red noses and traditional costumes of Ronciglione. Where: Ronciglione

March:

The Barabbata, an ancient festival features a procession of farmers and fishermen, with offering of specialities like classical ?ciambelle?. Where: Marta

April:

Cattle Branding Festival which includes a Palio delle Contrade with parade in costumed characters from the medieval times and rodeo in a ringed arena. Where: Tarquinia

I Pugnaloni, in honour of Madonna del Fiore with exhibition of flower (and herbs and musk) panels to revoke the miracle of 1176 against Federico Barbarossa. Where: Acquapendente

Christ's Run, where a wooden statue, representing Christ, is carried by running people, on their shoulders through the town, surrounded by the shots of maremma guns. Where: Tarquinia

Sagra del biscotto e Palio di Sant'Anselmo, an horserace between the neighbourhoods. Where: Bomarzo

May:

Exhibition of Agricultural Machinery and Tarquina Fair, exhibition of manufacturers of agriculture farm equipment. Where: Tarquinia

S. Michele Archangelo, festivity in honour of the patron Saint with religious parade and ceremonies. Where: Vitorchiano

Wedding of the Trees where two oak trees are dressed up for a wedding ceremony to commemorate a papal decree of 1470 conferring ownership of the forest of Montefogliano to the people of the area; candy and almonds are distributed along with other country food. Where: Vetralla

Cowboy Rodeo Where: Tarquinia countryside

June:

Infiorata del Corpus Domini and Miracle of Bolsena, dated 1263, it shows the creation of a carpet of flower started in the afternoon of the day of the procession and completed only a few minutes before the procession comes out of the church. As the procession passes over the carpet, it is completely destroyed. Where: Bolsena

Flowers on the balcony and candles in the wine cellars. Where: Vetralla

Cherry Festival, with local foods as cakes, sweets and special pies all featuring the tiny fruit. Parades, music, dancing and plentiful wine and grappa are also on show. Where: Celleno

July:

Exhibition of the Soriano?s products, display of local handcrafted products.

Feast of Saint Ildebrando. Horse races and local products fair. Where: Bagnoregio

Sagra del Cavatello (pasta speciality). Where: Vitorchiano

September:

Feast of the Macchina di Santa Rosa, the Basilica of Santa Rosa contains the body of Saint Rose who died in 1252. Since then, Viterbo has honoured the Saint with a magnificent festival on the night of September 3rd. On this night, the so-called Macchina di Santa Rosa (a huge lighted tower that's over a hundred feet tall and weighs in at 11,000 pounds) is taken along the medieval streets of the city. The event initiates a series of cultural and other popular events that continues throughout the entire month. Where: Viterbo

Ottova di Sant'Egidio, a very old event created during Pope Bonifacio IX in 1396. Where: Orte

Bean Festival, display of locally made items and beans tasting. Where: Sutri

Palio della Madonna della Quercia, a very old competition. Where: Viterbo

Sagra del Cappellacci, a typical local pancake. Where: Bassano di Teverina

October:

Chestnut festival, a typical sagra with historical Parades, flag-weaver, archery games and Giostra dell'anello (Joust of the ring). Where: Soriano del Cimino

November:

None

December:

Nativity, a live nativity scene with an ancient Franciscan tradition. Where: Corchiano

Olive Feast, with taste of bruschetta (bread dipped in virgin olive oil and seasoned with garlic, salt and fresh tomato. Where: Canino

Handicrafts exhibition. Where: Orte
