Assisi and Spello ascension day picnic
The traditional Ascension Day picnic involving the inhabitants
of both Spello and Assisi will take place usually takes place at
the end of May. The Spellans go to a spectacular hermitage known
as the Spella, while the Assisans take their lunches to
the Stazzi of Monte Subasio.
Basilica choir
Series
of concerts by which the Basilica of St Francis' aims to promote
young Umbrian talent begins in June, with the Basilica choir and
the "G.B. Martini" orchestra conducted by Father Giuseppe
Magrino performing in the Upper Basilica.
Pulci Processions
The streets of the Porta Perlici district of Assisi will be
decorated with a carpet of flowers for the traditional
Processione delle Pulci, scheduled to run usually in June.
Festa del Voto
A number of religious functions and secular events are held each
year in June for the so-called "Festa del Voto" in Assisi, to
commemorate a miraculous intervention from St Claire that freed
the city from the Saracens.
